A bit of leslie paula
And her Latin soul band history
Leslie Paula was born into a musical family, and from a young age she learned everything she could musically from her Father, Mike Gutierrez.
Mike was a successful Vocalist and Timbalero who became a Latin Music Icon during the golden era of Latin music in the late 1950's and early 1960's recording and performing with the likes of Bobby Montez, Cal Tjader and George Shearing.
Leslie Paula formed her Latin Soul Band in 1995, making her father an integral part of her show. At the start, the Latin Soul Band was a five-piece, but Leslie quickly became one of the hottest acts on the Los Angeles circuit. As her popularity grew, so did the size of her band. The addition of a third percussionist and live horns really bumped up the energy and excitement to an already high octane show.
Leslie began recording the first of four CD's in 1998, and these recordings are what really put her on the map.
She has had the pleasure of performing for the Who's Who of Hollywood at both Oscar and Emmy Night Governors balls, as well as bringing her band to the Playboy Jazz Festival, which is among her favorite performances of her career as a Vocalist.
Leslie Paula and her dynamite orchestra have wowed audiences in and around Los Angeles and Miami, along with a critically acclaimed, six-night sell out show at the world famous, Ronnie Scott's in London, and three Five-City Tours throughout Germany and Europe.
Leslie is back on the scene, and whether it's a Trio, Quintet or her full band, she's doing what her soul craves, and that is, SING for YOU.
Leslie Paula and her Latin Soul Band brings the perfect combination of Salsa, Bolero, Bossa, Jazz Standard and a little taste of R&B.
